Minutes of Libertarian Party of West Virginia

Executive Commitee Meeting

March 18, 1996

Ferris, Baker Watts

Charleston, West Virginia

7:00 P.M.

Present: John Brown, Roger Fritz, Dr. Wallace Johnson, John Sturgeon.

John Brown is to discuss the troubled petition drive at a meeting of the Libertarian Party National Committee in Washington, DC. Dr. Johnson compared the drive to being third down and ten after two fumbles. We need 18,000 signatures. We now have 5,972 raw signatures.

We have already spent nearly $12,000 on radio, which we may now need for ballot access.

Ways to get petitioners were discussed. They must be WV residents.

A package will be sent to all dues-paying members to enlist their help.

Petitioning could be done in conjunction with the April 15 Tax Day Protest in Charleston.

Students could work the local colleges.

More paid petitioners are needed - we can't do it just with volunteers.

A combined Johnson/Whelan/Browne campaign headquarters will be needed but not until after the primary.

Next meeting will be after the LNC meeting: March 24, 3:00 P.M. at FBW.

Adjourned.
