Sue Smith, League of Women Voters of Denton: Thank you for printing the Voters Guide as a public service. The following are my responses to your questionnaire. As requested, I will also send a signed copy of this response by postal mail. Candidate for U.S. Representative District 26 David Wallace Croft 1. Please describe the training and experiences that qualify you for this office. (50 word limit) As a former United States Air Force officer, I understand our duty to defend our freedoms. As a technology consultant, I understand the importance of our economy to the strength of our nation. As a husband and father, I understand the value of working together for the future. 2. How would you balance the need to protect our civil liberties and the need to provide security from terrorists for people in the United States and citizens abroad? (75 word limit) I share the uniquely American belief that we can have our cake and eat it too. I believe that we can continue to enjoy levels of security, freedom, stability, and prosperity that are the envy of the world. If elected, I will vote to dramatically increase funding to our defense and intelligence agencies so that we can eliminate threats to our security from abroad before they emerge. 3. What are the issues of most concern to this district? (75 word limit) I believe that the economy is the primary issue and is crucial to maintaining our strength and meeting our financial commitments. I will seek to liberate our budget from the special interests by opposing government spending in all areas except those which serve to defend our rights. I pledge to you that I will never vote to increase taxes and that I will not run for reelection as an incumbent. -- David Wallace Croft http://www.lptx.org/croft/ 214-731-9284
