IBM has very generously offered their support to the MtJUG. In addition to a number of Internet services that will be extended to us, I have recently received a box of Java treasures. I propose that we distribute these goods at our next meeting in a fashion to be determined by vote of the members.

The box included the following:

In addition, O'Reilly books is extending a 20% discount to our members when we mention the code "DSUG" when ordering at (800) 998-9938. O'Reilly publishes a series of Java books which you may recall I favorably reviewed two months ago.

Our thanks to IBM and O'Reilly for their generous support.

I am pleased to announce that John Clingan of Sun Microsystems has accepted my invitation on behalf of the Mountaineer Java Users Group (MtJUG) to provide timely press releases on Java developments to our mailing list. John Clingan regularly provides these mailings to the Los Angeles and Orange County JUGs of California. I am quite pleased that he has agreed to extend his service to West Virginia. I see this as one more step in becoming a part of the "wired" Java community. Our thanks to John Clingan for his efforts.

The vote has been cast. Our acronym is now MtJUG. At some point in the future we need to drop a $100 with InterNIC and reserve mtjug.org.
