May 5, 2003
Attendence:16+
Talk about old business.
Peace Dance was a success thanks to all the bands. We made money for the homeless in India and America. We gave away $700.00 in prizes.
Library Meeting-Ph.D. issue of summer and continuation of privilages after the 99 hour rule and other issues.
Discuss Dance in the Fall of 03.
Discussed Valentines bake sale for 2004.

Other new business (old included)

Print-outswaste of pages/cant make double sided/costs ($.07@ copy center before 4:30 pm vs. library print-outs $.10)

Computer Access in the summer in between semesters.

No computer access in Waterview

Summer courses-non to take-TA/RA have to take 9 hours (so what do we take? Basket Weaving? Why cant we have more classes or online classes or other universities linked together)

No health insurance during the summer when you are in between classes. Why cant we have an extension for three months? Or why cant student services offer some kind of primary care for students not registered over the summer.

TA teaching classes

TA/RA pay/job availability.

New TA/RA (and new faculty) not receiving a paycheck for the first 2-4 weeks they start.

School of Management hires other school Ph.D. students (not there own Masters students-reports are that school of managements applicants do not have the technical skills needed-student proposes this question would not that lead you to believe that the school of management needs to teach their own students better technical skills.) School of Management students want to fill their own TA/RA positions.

Why dont the different schools publish who get the TA/RA positions? Could favoritism play a role?

Wrapped up the meeting with Tarus/Sec. leaving for his country and Jacob Varghese being elected our new secretary.

Two student agreed to write the proposal of our issues to be given to Dr. Jenifer this June at our regular semester meeting with him.
